I’m in SPEEDBOAT HEAVEN!!!
1. Is the course exactly the same as last year?
2. What is the northern point where the boats will turn- at or north of the pier?
3. If the turning point is north of the pier, how far north of the pier?
3. I need to know as i must book a place to stay (condo) where my brother can watch from the balcony as he has health issues that prevent him from watching from the beach.

Last august i was in cocoa beach on vacation for the whole month of august, staying in the diplomat condo. I learned about the speed boat races a few days after i arrived. I watched from the beach (i was in the water)on saturday and sunday. The condo was right in the middle of the course between the pier and lori wilson park. I thought i had died and gone to heaven!

Then on sunday after the races, i went to look around an area north of my condo, near port canaveral, to check out some restaurants and found myself where your “on land” area was...The tents, the souvenirs, the music tent--saw some of the boats, and bought a black t-shirt with your beautiful logo (i will be wearing it again for your events).

I retired in december, and the first thing i did was plan my vacation so i can be there for the races next month.
And by the way, my dad had the most beautiful (wood) speedboat (a long one)back in the early 1940’s...I have pix of it speeding up the hudson river here in new york city and closeups of my mom sitting in it. I will bring the pix with me.

When my brother and i were born, 1945 and 1947, my dad gave up the speedboat and got a 25 foot steel hulled (yes!) Cabin cruiser which we enjoyed for many years until @1962 when we were wrecked by a 50 foot sailboat that caved in the side of our boat (we were anchored and fishing)when it had left it’s mooring, was moving under engine power, sail was being raised, and they did not see us.

If our hull had been wood, our boat probably would have sunk, but the steel hull caved in a lot, the cabin top flipped into the water, and we were ok...There’s more to it than that, but to me, boats have always been a source of love, fun, and excitement, while understanding there can be an element of danger.
So if you can give me the answers to my questions, it will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Star Pollack

You guys put on a great racing event last year. Hope more boats show up this year. What happen to the original founder of this event.? Look forward to coming out next year. It's good to see people making new events for our area. God knows we need it.

Take care,
Kevin
